Tie Goes to the Newcomer

So the most well known brand name figure in American politics, Hillary Clinton, went up against a candidate who was unknown 9 months ago, yet she could not beat him with even a few points of breathing room? In spite of the overwhelming support she received from the Democratic party establishment, many endorsements, and the huge treasure chest of corporate donations, she still could not beat newcomer Bernie Sanders by even a few points?

This result in Iowa marks trouble for the Clinton campaign. I have no doubt she will recover and do better in March on Super Tuesday. However, the populist appeal of Bernie Sanders and his progressive/left supporters have announced that there will be no coronation of any king or queen, and the process had better take place with transparency and honesty.

Bernie has shown he is a viable candidate. Will the news media take notice?

People keep talking as if Hillary Clinton is the ‘safe’ bet. I’d like to point out Bernie’s electoral history — he hasn’t lost a race since 1986. That’s 30 years of win, win, win, win, win … 11 straight wins in races for mayor, US House, and US Senate. Three decades of winning with no corporate donations. Repeated wins over wealthy candidates supported by the GOP/corporate establishment.

Bernie knows how to win over and over. Does Hillary have the stamina to keep up with him given the baggage she has to carry?
