Wow. One thing we know for sure about tonight's Iowa Caucus result is that the "winner" will have gotten the lowest ever percentage of the vote in Caucus history- and that goes for both the Democratic and Republican Caucuses. Only Bob Dole, in 1996 got a comparably low total (26%), and that was also, coincidentally, in Clinton's re-election year.
In fact it looks certain at this point that neither Romney nor Santorum will even break 25%!
I think this bodes very well for Obama' re-election chances. The GOP is absolutely rife with dissent over both its direction and the nominee, and the clear resistance to accepting Romney as the inevitable nominee is a sign of the immense discontent throughout.
